May Library Events & Friends of the Library News

It’s cool. It’s damp. Those April showers do bring flowers. A good time to have a good book, DVD, kindle read or State Parks parking pass. These are all available at your favorite library, the University Heights Library.

The current administration in DC has indicated it will be defunding organizations in Education and the Arts. The ALA (American Library Association) may lose a great deal of its funding. It has been responsible in the past for scholarships and other important things.

That is one reason that the University Heights Friends of the Library organization exists: we are here for these hard times. First, be sure to let your elected representatives know how important you believe that the ALA, and similar organizations, are in our society. Second, please join the Friends of the University Heights Library! The main source of our funds for supporting our library is our membership! Easy to join on our website (www.friendsofuhlibrary.org)! Choose your level of support, starting at $5.00.

The Friends of the University Heights Library (FoUHL) hopes to see you soon –May 10 is the Party on Park, always popular. Come see me and other members of the FoUHL! And May 15, Thursday, will be Bike Anywhere Day, starting EARLY. Our own UH Library will be a designated Pit Stop with snacks, water, coffee, T-shirts and other items. Come on your bike, enjoy some treats and camaraderie. Let’s hear it for May! See you!
