March UHCA Meeting Recap: Fire Safety, Membership, and Community Updates

It was a cold and rainy evening, yet approximately 30 people attended in person, with 8 on Zoom. Our SDPD CRO (Community Relations Officer) Tiffany Adamek was unable to attend so Deborah Morrison provided her Crime Watch report. Following some recent changes, Officer Adamek will be our assigned CRO for University Heights, Mission Hills, North Park and Linda Vista. She is working on getting her schedule smoothed out and will begin attending meetings regularly in the coming months. In the meantime, Deborah will use the pre-meeting time to update the community on Zone Watch.

Status reports were given by Treasurer Andy Lange and Vice President Angela Jackson-Llamas, along with updates from Lauren Doucette on social media and upcoming University Heights events, Deborah Morrison on membership and next month’s Zone Watch topic, and Rachel Esquerra from the UH Library and Pam Isaacs from the Friends of the Library.

Angela introduced our speakers from SDFD, Community Risk Reduction lead Raquel Elias and Battalion Chief John Brubaker, who provided us with important information about fire safety and fielded many questions from attendees. Don’t forget that this month’s meeting is April 3, during which Officer Adamek will be our featured speaker along with our Zone Watch Coordinators. See you there!
