Bike Month Events and Resources in UH

May marks National Bike Month, a celebration of riding bikes for transportation, leisure, and exercise. San Diego County boasts more than thirty years of celebrating Bike Anywhere Day (formerly Bike to Work Day), a one-day event hosted by San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) designed to motivate residents to take to the streets on their bikes.

Organizations, such as UHCA and the UH Library, host 100 pit stops around San Diego county, offering free water, snacks, t-shirts, themed treats and more to cyclists participating in the event.

This year, the event will be held county-wide on Thursday, May 15 from 6:30 - 9:30 AM. University Heights will host its 4th annual pit stop at the University Heights Library at 4193 Park Blvd.
To get University Heights neighbors in bike shape, UHCA hosted its annual Bike Tune-Up Clinic at Old Trolley Barn Park on Saturday, April 19, through which bike technicians from San Diego Bicycle Collective serviced over 60 bikes with basic lube services, brake checks, tube repairs, and more. San Diego Bicycle Coalition and SANDAG partnered with UHCA to bring a kid’s bike rodeo activity to the event, along with free bike maps, bike lights, helmets, and more. A big thank you to Coffee Cycle for donating coffee and water to attendees as well!
