March 2026 Events at the UH Library
For the first time, the University Heights Library will be hosting a couple of programs in honor of Will Eisner Week, March 1-7. Will Eisner is a pioneer artist that created the famous classic comic The Spirit. This week celebrates graphic novels, comics, and free speech. We’re so excited to have a special guest for our Maker Monday event on March 2nd to make your own comic. Elizabeth Brei is a queer comic book writer and editor with BOOM! Studios. The following day, we’re hosting Chris Ryall to discuss his 20-year career as a writer, editor, and publisher. He is the former Chief Creative Officer at IDW Publishing and currently co-founder and publisher at Image Comics imprint, Syzygy Publishing. In July 2025, he joined the San Diego Board of Library Commissioners.
Additionally, we look forward to working with the San Diego Bird Alliance (formerly the San Diego Audubon Society) on Tuesday evening, March 10, for a Birding 101 presentation. We’ll also be hosting our creative friends from ToshWerks on Saturday, March 14, to make forest terrariums. All programs are FREE and open to the public.
Many thanks to our Friends of the UH Library, we continue to have Miss Jennifer Duncan’s weekly Pajama Signing Storytime every Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. Also happening weekly is Let’s Play, Thursdays! Bring your kids to the library every Thursday morning at 10 a.m. for a variety of play. Storytime, crafts, dancing, songs, and most of all, FUN! Every third Thursday, Write Out Loud will be presenting a Kamishibai (Japanese paper theater) storytime. Our ace Youth Services Librarian has also begun an ongoing partnership with Trinity Theatre Company. They will perform during Let’s Play on Thursday, March 12, and every month thereafter.
All City libraries will be CLOSED on Tuesday, March 31, for César Chávez Day. Please visit www.sandiego.librarymarket.com for specific times and more library happenings here and around the city!
