New Utility Box Murals by Nicholas Danger Brighten University Heights

Last summer, our Beautification Team refreshed over 50 utility boxes with the help of incredibly talented local artists.

What used to be plain metal boxes are now colorful little works of art that make walking around the neighborhood way more fun.

If you haven’t checked them out yet, you should! There’s a map with all the locations here: www.uhsd.org/boxmap.

You can easily turn it into a casual art walk around the neighborhood.

We’ve also got a couple of fresh additions by Nicholas Danger (@nicholasdanger)! One is in front of Whit at Home on Madison Avenue, and the other is right by the dog park at El Cajon Boulevard and Park Boulevard — go take a look!

As these pieces continue to brighten up our neighborhood, we’re looking for volunteers to help keep them looking their best. From removing graffiti to applying protective anti-graffiti coatings, a little upkeep goes a long way in preserving these public art installations. Reach out to volunteer@uhsd.org.
