The Great University Heights Bake Off & Movie Night
UHCA and Birney Beekeeper Alliance hosted a Movies in the Park event on Saturday September 13 under a gorgeous warm glowing sunset and with perfect weather. This is the first time in a few years that we have produced this event, and thanks to our generous sponsor Johnny Pops, over 480 neighbors enjoyed a screening of Hocus Pocus. Treats were provided to the first 250 from Johnny Pops, and snacks including hot popcorn and over 90 fresh-baked pizzas from Pizza Break were available.
Before the movie, the first-ever Great University Heights Bakeoff was held, with over 19 entrants.
Everything was amazing, but there can only be one winner in each category, and thanks to the taste buds and votes of the attendees, the winners were:
Cakes: Carrot Cake by Diaundra Le
Cookies: Key Lime Pie Cookie by Baileigh Muckley
Brownies/Bars: Peanut Butter Brownies by Shatiera Jones
A special thank you goes out to all the volunteers who helped sell concessions, managed the bake-off competition, face painting, and cleaning up trash. We can’t make these community events happen without you! The fundraising efforts benefited both Birney Foundation and UHCA, so thank you to our community for your support.
