Roosevelt Middle School Opens South Parking Lot for Safer Student Drop-Off
STUDENT SAFETY DURING PICK-UP AND DROP OFF
Roosevelt opened the South Parking Lot for student pick-up and drop-off on Nov. 12, 2025. Families can now navigate drop-off on the southern side of the campus.
The key factors for traffic success in the South Parking Lot are the following: 1) vehicles need to KEEP RIGHT; 2) PULL FORWARD as far as possible before dropping off students; 3) students exit vehicles on the PASSENGER SIDE only; 4) MERGE LEFT TO EXIT.
Here is a map illustrating these essential traffic flows.
The gates to enter Roosevelt’s campus from the South Parking Lot open at 8 a.m. Supervision of students by school officials starts at 8 a.m. It is important to note that all parking spots in the South Parking Lot are for faculty and staff. Families who arrive before 8 a.m. should not park in these spots because that will interfere with the ability of faculty and staff to park and get to their classrooms and offices.
PARENT PARTICIPATION AT ROOSEVELT
There is an open invitation for students to participate in Roosevelt’s parent organization called Roo Friends. There is a newsletter that all families can subscribe to here: eepurl.com/duIkrP.
When you subscribe to the newsletter, you can also subscribe to the parent calendar. This is a great tool, and it can help you avoid surprises, like the surprise that Veteran’s Day this year was a four-day weekend.
A Board Meeting for Roo Friends is scheduled for Dec. 2, 2025, at 6 p.m. , in the library. Principal McGee is typically present.
VOLUNTEERING AT ROOSEVELT
Now is a wonderful time to peek at the many volunteer opportunities at Roosevelt and sign up. You will find a list of events where volunteers are needed for the many parking fundraisers, the Pace-A-Thon, the book fair, and Elementary School Outreach. Please visit signup.com/go/ULCJBFZ.
I highly recommend that everyone who reads this article visit the signup.com link above and sign up for two hours of volunteering for the December Nights parking fundraiser. This fundraiser is very important and earns $30,000 to $50,000 in funds for Roosevelt. The $20,000 spread is the difference between having a crew of a few volunteers or a crew of many volunteers. Your two-hour contribution will return thousands of dollars of value.
Any questions about volunteering can be directed to volunteer@roofriends.org.
