Meet UH’s North Park Planning Committee Representatives
Hi neighbors! My name is Edgar Ramirez Manriquez, and I’ve recently been elected to the North Park Planning Committee (NPPC). I’ve had the privilege of living in University Heights for the past 7 years, and I’m grateful to call this place home. From my favorite scenic lookout at the west end of Adams Ave. to the many evenings spent enjoying our local businesses along Park Boulevard, my life has been deeply enriched by the intimate relationship between North Park and University Heights. As a renter, environmental planner, and daily bus commuter, I am well aware of the challenges ahead - from affordable housing and homelessness to climate change. As a newly elected NPPC member I will advocate for affordable housing, investments in our stormwater infrastructure, and safe streets for all users. I look forward to working together to address our shared needs.
Hello neighbors! My name is Holden Leslie-Bole, and I’m excited to serve as one of your new representatives on the North Park Planning Committee (NPPC). The NPPC is a volunteer group that advises the City of San Diego on land use, transportation, housing, and public infrastructure decisions in Greater North Park.
By day, I’m a climate scientist and coastal engineer, working on beach erosion and flooding across San Diego County. My wife and I have lived in University Heights for the past 4 years and feel incredibly lucky to call this neighborhood home.
I decided to get involved with the NPPC because, over the years, I’ve had too many close calls with speeding drivers while crossing the street in our neighborhood. I’m looking forward to working on traffic calming and pedestrian safety measures like crosswalks, curb extensions, bike lanes, and stop signs to make our streets safer and more welcoming
for everyone. I’ll also be focused on advocating for more affordable housing near transit, supporting small local businesses, improving public spaces and parks, and ensuring the city follows through on community identified priorities.
Above all, I want to be accessible and responsive, and will be writing regular updates in UH News to keep everyone in the loop about what’s happening with NPPC. Please feel free to reach out to me at holden.lesliebole@gmail.com with any ideas or concerns. I’m looking forward to working alongside you.
