Loving Local: Building Momentum in Our Business Community
As the owner of a University Heights small business, I am deeply grateful to step into this role as your UHCA Business Outreach board member. Serving this fabulous community is a true privilege. Walking through our neighborhood, it is impossible to miss the unique energy, diversity, and creativity that our local storefronts and services bring to our streets. Our recent UHCA Business Group meeting at Kairoa Brewing Company made it clear that our neighborhood entrepreneurs are more dedicated than ever to connecting deeply with the residents we love to serve.

Exciting New Neighborhood Business Initiatives
To channel this momentum, the UHCA Business Group is currently developing several new initiatives designed to help our local commerce thrive. Instead of working in isolation, we are focusing heavily on strengthening our internal network through new digital communication platforms and regular, informal networking events.
One of our most exciting upcoming projects is the launch of the brand-new University Heights Discount Card! Available to all UHCA members, this card is being designed as a fantastic win-win for our neighborhood. As a patron, it will help you save money on your day-to-day local patronage, making it easier and more affordable to choose UH businesses first. For our local business owners, participating in this program offers a direct pipeline to loyal, supportive neighborhood customers. It is the perfect incentive to keep our community's dollars circulating right here at home while rewarding neighbors for shopping small. Watch for more information on this exciting new benefit for our members- business and household coming in the fall.
Additionally, we are working on fresh promotional strategies to showcase member expertise directly to residents, alongside collaborative neighborhood meetups that bridge the gap between local businesses, families, and schools. From streamlined digital tools to the potential revival of local print features, these upcoming projects are all aimed at making our business community more interconnected, accessible, and visible than ever before.
How You Can Get Involved
For Our Local Businesses: If you are a University Heights business owner and haven't yet signed up for a UHCA business membership, there has never been a better time to do so. These upcoming programs are built specifically to benefit your bottom line, expand your reach, and plug you into a supportive network of peers. Your membership ensures you have a voice as we roll out these exciting new resources.
For Our Wonderful Patrons: A thriving business district relies entirely on our incredible neighbors. I warmly encourage all UH residents to keep buying locally. When you support our independent storefronts, medical practices, and eateries, you directly invest in the unique character and vibrancy of University Heights.
We need your feedback and ideas to bring these shape-shifting initiatives to life. Whether you're a local business owner or a beloved patron, please join us for our next meeting on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Kairoa Brewing Company, or log in via our virtual Zoom option. Let's work together to help all of our University Heights businesses flourish!
