Happy New Year, University Heights!

Happy new year, University Heights! A new year means a fresh start and another opportunity to tackle your annual reading goal.

In January, we co-hosted a fun puzzle swap and would like to thank everyone who came out and donated puzzles. In February, we will be hosting Love Your Library over the Valentine’s Day weekend. This event is held at the UH Library and will feature a “blind date with a book” where you can purchase wrapped books based on a short description, as well as fun literary-themed stickers, bookmarks, and other goodies. Keep an eye on our Instagram for the exact timing and details of this event.

We’d also like to introduce Jacob Ammon as the new secretary of the Friends of the UH Library. Jacob has been a UH resident for two and a half years and is looking forward to supporting the UH community. When he’s not working or exploring San Diego, you can usually find him walking his dog, Rocky, along Park Boulevard.

We want to take this opportunity to remind you what it means to be a Friend of the UH Library. We are a non-profit organization made up of volunteers, with a mission to support the UH Library. Every dollar we raise goes directly to supporting library staff and funding programs, like Signing Storytime and Maker Mondays. When you make a donation, buy a book at our monthly book sale, or purchase our branded totes— available for $50 online or at the library front desk—you can feel proud knowing that you’re helping make our library a more vibrant and engaging place.

You can renew your membership and become a Friend of the UH Library for as little as $10 for a 12-month membership at our website, listed below.

If you’d rather donate your time or knowledge, we’re looking for volunteers to help at library events and to share ideas for what you’d like to see from the library this year. You can join our monthly Zoom meetings linked on our website, or reach out to us directly to volunteer via our Instagram or email below.
