February at the UH Library
This February is full of celebrations at your friendly neighborhood library! First, we’re partnering with the San Diego Chinese Historical Museum for our Maker Monday Adult Craft on Monday, February 2. They will be presenting Traditions of the Chinese Lunar New Year with a zodiac puppet making activity that features the Year of the Horse.
February is also San Diego Museum Month! This year promises to be bigger and better with over 70 museums, historic sites, gardens, zoos, aquariums and more. Starting February 1, you can pick up a Museum Month pass at any San Diego Public Library or download to your mobile device. Present your pass for half-price admission for up to four people at 70+ museums around San Diego County from February 1-28, 2026.
We’re also celebrating Black History Month, particularly American engineer, entrepreneur and inventor of the three-position traffic signal, Garrett Morgan, Sr. Bring your 3rd through 8th graders by to create a traffic light paper circuit on Thursday afternoon, February 19 – all materials provided while supplies last.
Many thanks to our Friends of the UH Library, we continue to have Miss Jennifer Duncan’s weekly Pajama Signing Storytime every Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. Also happening weekly is Let’s Play, Thursdays! Bring your kids to the library every Thursday morning at 10 a.m. for a variety of play. Storytime, crafts, dancing, songs, and most of all FUN! Every third Thursday, Write Out Loud will be presenting a Kamishibai (Japanese paper theater) storytime.
All City libraries will be CLOSED on Monday, February 16 for President’s Day. Please visit www.sandiego.librarymarket.com for specific times and more library happenings here and around the city!
