Pet of the Month: Junie

As told to Charlene LaValle

I’m grateful for my mom, especially since hers was my third home in my first six months of life. All that moving gave me terrible separation anxiety — who wouldn’t have it after being bounced around like that? But Mom helped me through it with some training, and I can now say that I’m no longer afraid when she leaves because she always comes back and tells me I did a great job.

I am almost a year old now. Before Mom adopted me, a kind lady who was trying to do right by me asked my mom for help finding me a good home. Since Mom has done rescue work and helps rehome dogs, she got me accepted into a rescue but then she decided to adopt me herself!

I am a happy, curious, and spoiled lil pup. I am especially fond of my favorite neighbor humans who stop by to say hi, and I love my doggie friends, too.

Behind the fence, I can sometimes be a bit of a brat. You know, just testing my boundaries. Hehe. So, when you see Mom correcting me, she’s just trying to make me a respectable dog citizen in the neighborhood, because no one likes an annoying dog!
