Autumn Programs at the UH Branch Library
Time for fall, everyone! We hope you are enjoying the amber light, cooler nights, and everything pumpkin-spiced. On your next crisp autumn walk, be sure to stop by the University Heights (UH) Branch Library for the latest savory cookbook, cozy mystery, or spicy horror anthology. We’ve got you covered. And remember — the UH Branch Library will be open every Monday from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
On Saturday, Oct. 4, at 10 a.m., join us for a lively presentation in honor of Women’s History Month, presented by Elizabeth Cobbs of the League of Women Voters. She is the author of Fearless Women: Feminist Patriots from Abigail Adams to Beyoncé.

We are also celebrating Banned Books Week, Oct. 5 –11, under the theme “Censorship is so 1984.” This might be the year to read that banned book classic if you haven’t yet — or the current number one for 2024. Either way, join the fun and test your knowledge at our Banned Books Trivia Contest — one night only — on Monday, Oct. 7, at 5 p.m. There are sure to be treats and prizes!
Finally, the UH Library is proud to host our second annual Filipino American History Month Poetry Reading, this year featuring Daniela Paraguya Sow, author of Half Moon Rising. This can’t-miss event will be Monday, Oct. 20, from 5 to 6:30 p.m., followed by Q&A and refreshments. Stay tuned — we’ll be announcing more exciting poets soon, along with our ever-growing Adult Craft Night, held the first Monday of each month from 5 to 7 p.m. Once again, the UH Branch Library will be the place to be this October.
See you at the library!
