Neighbors settle in for Movies in the Park at Trolley Barn Park.
Lights, camera, community! On Saturday, Sept. 26, Trolley Barn Park transformed into an outdoor movie theater as hundreds of neighbors gathered for the University Heights Community Association’s (UHCA) Movies in the Park, an evening filled with family fun, delicious treats, and plenty of neighborhood spirit.
With an estimated 700 attendees, the park buzzed with excitement as families and friends spread out blankets, unfolded lawn chairs, and settled in beneath the stars. Kids enjoyed the playground, neighbors caught up with old friends, and everyone soaked in a beautiful San Diego evening. We even had a practice session for the “Thriller” flash mob, which followed on Saturday, Oct. 17, when UH’s part of this international event took place during the UH Fall Festival.

The festivities included tasty concessions, sweet treats, face painting, and plenty of glowing goodies to brighten the night. Best of all, the event raised more than $1,900, with proceeds after expenses benefiting both UHCA and the Birney Beekeeper Alliance (BBA), supporting our neighborhood school community.

A huge thank-you to the BBA, our partner in putting on this event, and to our dedicated volunteers, generous supporters, and everyone who helped make the evening possible. Events like these remind us of what makes UH such a special place to call home. And to the hundreds of neighbors who joined us: Thank you for making movie night a blockbuster success!
