UHCA Summer Mixer Co-Hosted with UH Women’s Walk Club
Friends and neighbors, dogs, pizza, drinks, great conversation, and a gorgeous summer evening — that’s how I’d sum up the University Heights Community Association’s (UHCA) summer mixer, held Aug. 6 at Park and Rec. The University Heights Women’s Walk Club (UHWWC) was thrilled to co-host this year, pitching in on event promotion, check-in, and upbeat party vibes.
Nearly 100 people turned out for a fun evening of conversation, connection, and University Heights community spirit, with the San Diego sky putting on a show at sunset over Park and Rec’s back patio. Park & Rec covered the first round of summer drinks, and Prospera Internal Medicine & Aesthetics provided pizza from Sonny’s for everyone. One appreciative guest was overheard exclaiming, “They have vegan pizzas too!”
UHCA President Marc Johnson welcomed the crowd and announced that the University Heights Summer Concert Series was a massive success and is hoping to expand next year, drawing a boisterous round of applause. He also thanked UHCA’s volunteer leadership and partners like Pemberley Realty, who handed out gift bags to guests. Several attendees also stocked up on University Heights swag, including our beloved UH ostrich gear, always available at www.uhsd.org/newstore.
For some guests, the mixer was another UHCA event among many; for others, it was their first. We loved welcoming the newcomers, several of whom told us it was their first time hearing about UHWWC — and we saw a noticeable uptick in membership requests and social media traffic in the days after. If you missed this one, don’t worry: UHCA has more events on the calendar, and they remain one of the best ways to get to know your neighbors.
UHWWC sincerely thanks UHCA for allowing us to co-host their event. We are truly lucky to have such wonderful community organizers looking out for University Heights.
