From UHWWC to University Heights Community - Thank You!

We did it! We celebrated two years of the University Heights Women’s Walk Club (UHWWC). Members gathered at Trolley Barn Park July 26 for food, fun, and friends. We would like to extend a giant thank you to the entire University Heights community for helping us grow and have reasons to celebrate.

Many neighborhood businesses have become community partners, generously supporting UHWWC since our start. We’ve connected with local business leaders who have opened their arms and embraced us. We’re talking about restaurants, coffee shops, dessert shops, workout facilities, breweries, and more.

We love supporting sole proprietorships, especially those that are women-owned. Y’all really came through donating incredible items

for our two-year celebration raffle! Your generosity is meaningful, and we see you.

To one of our favorites, our local library, you make our community so much better, and we thank you for the amazing programs you host. Fo Guang Shan Hsi Fang Temple: You offer beautiful events we are proud to be just a tiny part of. We are grateful you’re our neighbor. Being able to partner with local businesses and organizations, some from as far away as Los Angeles, has truly made a difference for UHWWC members. For example, we held a self-defense class courtesy of Fight Tribe LA. We had an excellent turnout, which wasn’t surprising. There are few self-defense classes available, even fewer tailored for women, and even fewer that are donation-based. Our class was all of that and right down the street at Trolley Barn Park.

We wouldn’t be able to do what we do without all of your many contributions, too many to list here. We look forward to continuing to strengthen our local community and community partnerships. Each of us doing our small part is what helps make University Heights the best neighborhood.

Oh, and we’re excited for the launch of a University Heights Men’s Group too! Please check them out at www.kindmen-uniheights.com: “Just like you don’t need to be a UH resident to join this group, you don’t need to meet any other ‘male’ criteria to join. No matter your gender expression, you’re welcome to spend time with us.” UHWWC helped inspire this worthy endeavor, and that makes us so happy.

Find a list of our community partners on our website (www.UHWWC.org) and on Instagram (@UniversityHeightsWomensWalk).
