UH’s 2025 Garage Sale Event Draws Crowds and Community Spirit
This year’s community-wide garage sale event was one of the largest we have hosted to date. With 55 residential garage sales, a dozen stalls set up for apartment dwellers in the Alice Birney Elementary School parking lot, e-waste recycling provided by EnviroGreen, and a special guest stop, the hundreds of University Heights neighbors and shoppers had plenty of treasure hunting to do on Saturday, June 7th. “We had folks pulling up on bikes, on scooters, with dogs, in cars, and walking,” to obtain their garage sale map listing each of the participating locations, said volunteer Betsy Paige. This annual event is a wonderful way for neighbors to conduct some spring cleaning, providing opportunities for recycling and reusing household items, kitchen appliances, clothing, etc.
The UH Garden Club hosted a farmstand for neighbors to learn more about gardening and to purchase garden grown goodies. They were also able to pick up seeds and plants at the UH Native Plants Initiative stop. Neighbors donated art supplies to ArtForm on Adams Avenue and gently used books to the UH Library. Thanks to all who participated and volunteered their time to make this event happen. We look forward to hosting the next garage sale event in June 2026.
