University Heights Women's Walk Club Welcomes Winter with Festive Activities

University Heights Women’s Walk Club’s mission is to create a vibrant and inclusive community where women of all backgrounds, ages, and fitness levels can come together. See our full schedule at www.UHWWC.org or on Instagram @UniversityHeightsWomensWalk

What are you missing? So much! A Tinned Fish Meetup at Clos Wine Shop, lunch at Frenchy’s Hideout, Banned Book Trivia Night at the library, a walk to dinner at Una Mas, and our first-ever Menopause Walk and Talk. That’s just to name a few of our recent meetups. Our walk to Whiskers and Wine Bar was a hit. Several of us spent the evening playing with cats and sipping drinks. Somehow, no one came away with a new feline companion…this time….

We exercised our artistic expression in the medium of pumpkin carving just before Halloween. The results were impressive, which is no surprise because our members are multi-talented. Speaking of which, November kicked off with our Pie Swap Picnic at Trolley Barn Park featuring a colorful array of gorgeous sweet and savory pies. The festive sight left tasters overwhelmed with delight. It was any pie lover’s dream come true.

We welcomed cooler temperatures during our Saturday morning strolls to Meráki Cafe and Inspired Coffee Roasters. We will have another successful dog pack training walk after Thanksgiving, and our popular evening wellness walks continue with regularity.

Coming up is another fun lineup of events for winter, or at least San Diego’s version of winter. On Dec. 1, join us at the library for Maker Mondays Holiday Market and Holiday Cards from 5 to 7 p.m. This is the first of four consecutive December Monday DIY holiday craft nights.

Join us to walk to Mostra Coffee to get yummy drinks and support businesses during the Normal Street construction project. Be sure to register for UHCA’s Lights in the Heights taking place on Dec. 14! We’ll have a group meeting at Trolley Barn Park to tour the holiday lights and vote online for the best, most creative, and wackiest lights of the season.

On Saturday, Dec. 21, come along with us to the Hillcrest Farmers Market to find unique last-minute holiday gifts, grab a bite to eat, pick up fresh ingredients for holiday cooking, or just spend time with the community. We’re also looking forward to Fo Guang Shan Hsi Fang Temple’s celebration for World Peace Meditation Day on Saturday, Dec. 27 at 10:30 a.m. Register at hsifangtemple.org
