Dog of the Month: Meet Maiya Mae

We found Maiya Mae on a trip to Thailand, and while we did not plan to fall in love with a dog during our trip, she captured our hearts when she crashed our stay at an elephant sanctuary. Just over one year old, Maiya Mae chased after our car as we left, but seeing we had no plans to take her, we had to leave her behind and continue our travels. Fast forward a few days later, with this sweet girl still on our minds, we flew back from Phuket, rented a car, and spent more than 11 hours searching for her. Just as we were about to give up and drive away, a few local villagers on the side of the road began waving us down: they had found her for us! At that point we knew she was meant to be ours – we named her and had her microchipped that same day, and spent the night bonding before putting her into boarding for three months for vaccinations. We’re thrilled to have her here with us now, and she’s loving our daily walks around University Heights as she gets to know her neighbors. Feel free to say hello if you see us out! - Karissa Latteri
