The Native Plant Initiative Grows Beauty and Biodiversity

The Native Plant team gave away twenty homegrown narrow-leaf milkweed seedlings during the community yard sale in June.

Narrow-leaf milkweed plants support endangered monarch butterflies which depend on them to lay their eggs. Thank you to all the neighbors who stopped by to learn about these native plants.

Please join us for an upcoming volunteer morning in your community native plant garden. The next events are July 12th and August 9th from 8-11 a.m. at the corner of Park Boulevard and Meade Avenue. Email nativeplants@uhsd.org with questions.

Looking ahead to the fall planting season, we are fundraising for the purchase of new native plants and gardening supplies. When you donate to this dedicated campaign, your money will be matched dollar-for-dollar by UHCA. Visit www.uhsd.org/nativeplant and help us make University Heights more beautiful in a sustainable way!
