UHWWC’s Out & About Subgroup: Building Community This Pride Month

Happy Pride Month! One of the newer University Heights Women's Walk Club (UHWWC) subgroups making waves in our neighborhood is Out & About.

This subgroup is intended to be a safe, welcoming space for folks who are a part of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community to meet, hang out, share resources, and enjoy local events together. The group kicked off its first meetup earlier this year with a wonderful potluck at the park, where everyone brought goodies to share, caught up with old friends, and welcomed new faces.

Future Plans and Giving Back

Our active group chat has already become a fantastic hub for finding out about local queer events, regional sports leagues, and meaningful ways to give back to the community. With the goal of establishing regular monthly meetups throughout the year, we have brainstormed an exciting lineup of future plans. Neighbors can look forward to upcoming movie nights, game nights, coffee hangs, group outings to local queer social events, supporting women's sports, and volunteering together.

In fact, giving back is already central to who we are. This past April, members from the UHWWC stepped up to support the San Diego LGBT Community Center's annual Dining Out For Life event, helping to raise vital funds for The Center's local health and wellness programs. We invite you to join our WhatsApp subgroup today to see exactly what we have planned for June!

You Are Welcome Here

We also want to use this space to share a simple but powerful message: we see you, and you are enough just the way you are. Everyone deserves to feel safe, loved, and supported to be their true, authentic selves. Whether you are completely new to the UHWWC or have been walking with us for a while, you are always welcome to join our community.
