Have a Truck? Help Us Mulch on Feb. 21!

We are looking for community members interested in driving to the Miramar Greenery to load their truck with mulch on Saturday, Feb. 21. If you or a neighbor have a pickup truck and can help out, please contact us at nativeplants@uhsd.org. Native plants are adapted to San Diego’s Mediterranean climate, where the majority of our rain falls during the winter months. This year we have had plenty of rain, and our plants are having their annual growth spurt and preparing to flower. Along with this bounty of water, weedy plants are also growing rapidly. Mulch is a great answer to keep the weeds at bay, but it needs to be replenished regularly as it breaks down over time. Additional mulch will help keep weeding to a minimum in our community’s volunteer-run Native Biodiversity Garden at the corner of Park and Meade. Special thanks to Mary, Mallory, Zach, Josh, and Maureen, who joined us for our January event.
