Halloween On Maryland St. 2025
Gather ‘round, folks! Join us for the biggest, most creative Halloween celebration in all of San Diego County, right here in University Heights. Halloween on Maryland Street has been a tradition for decades, featuring magical trick-or-treating houses with themed displays like a spooky science lab, an animatronic dragon named Norbert, singing mermaids, film noir showings, dancing gourds and skeletons, movie and book-themed showcase houses, and more!
What’s special about Halloween on Maryland, even as the neighborhood shifts with incoming and leaving families, is that everyone gets it; Halloween on Maryland Street isn’t about gore and guts; it’s about bringing magical creatures alive and delighting the neighborhood with whimsy, says Andy Cameron, one of the neighborhood’s unofficial puppet masters for Halloween on Maryland Street (Norbert’s keeper).
The neighborhood sees well over a thousand trick-or-treaters each year, and this year will be no different. To aid in keeping the street safe, crosswalk volunteers will be stationed in six locations all along Maryland Street with stop signs to assist trick-or-treaters in crossing the road safely. Cones with caution tape will also be posted in front of some of the neighbors’ homes that feature live performances to assist with crowd control.
The festivities always occur on Halloween Night (Friday, Oct. 31), and homeowners recommend:
5:30 to 6:30 p.m.: Little Kids
6:30 to 8:30 p.m.: Big Kids & Adults
If you’d like to help out with one of the volunteer shifts as a crossing guard, please contact Lauren Doucette at lauren.doucette24@gmail.com.
We look forward to seeing you on Halloween Night for the most epic Halloween celebration in all of San Diego!
