Nathan Fletcher at June 6 UHCA Meeting

Who is Nathan Fletcher, and why should I care?

Nathan Fletcher represents District 4 on the San Diego County Board of Supervisors, a district entirely within the City of San Diego that includes University Heights.  He replaces Ron Roberts, a longtime friend of UH and an UHCA supporter.

Nathan Fletcher is an interesting guy you might want to meet under any circumstances. A former Marine Corps Counterintelligence Specialist and California State Assembly member, he also teaches Political Science at UC San Diego. As the only Democrat on the board, Supervisor Fletcher promises to work closely with the city council and mayor, and has a good relationship with Governor Gavin Newsom that might be useful.

If that's not enough reason to care, Supervisor Fletcher and his four colleagues manage a budget twice the city's and larger than the state budgets of Vermont, West Virginia, and South Dakota.  How do they intend to spend that money?  What are their priorities?  For that matter, what role does the county play in housing and transportation issues, and what is Supervisor Fletcher's point of view?

All good questions.  Come to UHCA's June 6 meeting at the Birney Elementary School Auditorium at 7:00 PM to get some answers (6:45 PM to hear the Crime Watch report).  And while you're at it, meet some neighbors. So, get out.  Do something different.  Be a part of public life.
