Meet Your Next City Council Member on Feb 6

January 29, 2020

If you’re wondering who that might be, mark your calendar to attend the UH Community Association’s Meet the Candidates Night on February 6 at 7:00 PM.

There is a good chance it will be one of the five candidates (below) who are confirmed to participate.  All are running to replace Chris Ward, who is contending for Todd Gloria's seat in the California State Assembly. Check out the latest UHCA News for a brief statement provided by each.

  • Chris Olsen is a UH resident with 15 years in city government. He has worked for government officials, served as a policy analyst in the Budget Analyst’s office, and is on the faculty of the School of Public Affairs at San Diego State University.

  • Stephen Whitburn is a District 3 resident of nearly twenty years.  Stephen offers prior leadership experience in volunteer organizations as well as a background in strategic planning and organizational management.

  • Toni Duran is a familiar face to many as State Senator Toni Atkins’ local rep.  Toni has been passionately engaged in a variety of community and LGBTQ+ issues, from housing and homelessness to arts and culture.

  • Adrian Kwiatkowski is a homegrown San Diegan who sees himself as a problem solver with a track record of experience and results that we need to tackle the challenging issues facing our district.

  • Michelle Nguyen has dedicated her young life to service of community and country.  She is an expert in government contracting, business process, and logistics who with seven years of military experience.

The UH Community Association’s intimate neighborhood forum is the ideal place to ask questions that are important to you and hear directly from the candidates.  Isn’t that what a community association is for?

By the way, if you're not currently a member, please consider becoming one.  The cost is minimal but the impact is not.  A large membership gives us clout that helps us to organize events like this one.
