Help Our Community Biodiversity Garden Grow!

The UHCA Biodiversity Garden, located along Park Boulevard and Meade Avenue surrounding Alice Birney Elementary School, is a labor of love in our community. Every month volunteers care for the native plants in the garden and carry out the hard work of weeding, mulching, and watering to keep the plants happy and healthy. Native plants provide homes for insects and reptiles, feed birds, and beautify our corner of the world. Consider joining us for our monthly event every second Saturday of the month from 8 to 11 a.m. at the corner of Park and Meade as we expand our work in the garden to prepare for our annual November planting party. Upcoming events are scheduled for Oct. 10 and Nov. 14. If you appreciate our work but cannot pitch in, consider donating to our team. All donations go toward the purchase of native plants and maintenance materials. And, as always, thanks to the volunteers and donors who keep this project alive and well! Contact us at nativeplants@uhsd.org.

Looking ahead to the fall planting season, we are fundraising for the purchase of new native plants and gardening supplies. When you donate to this dedicated campaign, your money will be matched dollar-for-dollar by UHCA. Visit www.uhsd.org/nativeplant and help us make University Heights more beautiful in a sustainable way!
