Len Rainey & The Midnight Players Jazz & Blues
sponsored by: Mary Anne
Stevens
Len Rainey & The Midnight Players is a
refreshing band playing the last nineteen years
in San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and
Las Vegas Clubs. The band’s original sound of
blues is soulful with a groove that will make
you want to get up and dance.
Len Rainey’s
Chicago upbringing has artistically melded
Blues, Jazz, and
Rock and Roll. Rainey’s authoritative voice and
nimble bass work laying a strong foundation.
Rainey possesses a genuine blues voice, soothing
and rugged at the same time – his vocals are
probably the core of this group’s sound.
Nearly all of the San Diego clubs have hosted
Len Rainey and his group many times. The band
has opened for world class acts such as: Bobby
Blue Bland, John Mayall, Chaka Khan, B.B. King,
and many more. The band’s third CD “Better Love
Somebody” has garnered major attention from the
music industry.
Len Rainey & The Midnight Players are a serious
group of musicians that always put on a show,
packed with fun filled excitement, plus truly
excellent musicianship. That is why we are
having this group back for a fourth time.
Witness for yourself the talent displayed – the time
for this band has arrived and what better place than in the
Trolley Barn Park Summer in the Park Concerts on July 11th!

Sue Palmer & Her Motel Swing Orchestra have graced the San
Diego music scene for more than two decades and are
renowned for their highly energetic shows. They continually
receive rave reviews for their live performances, as certainly
indicated by the large audiences that attend their many years
of performing at the Trolley Barn Park Concerts. Sue’s band
plays a wonderful combination of swing, blues, New Orleans,
and boogie woogie styles. Let’s face it, no one quite plays the
piano with the verve and versatility of Sue Palmer. Sue’s
“Sophisticated Ladies” CD won the best self-produced CD at
the International Blues Challenge in February of this year. To
honor Sue, Councilmember Toni Atkins proclaimed March 25,
2008 Sue Palmer Day in San Diego. Always a favorite, Sue
will close this year’s Concert Series on August 8th with a blast
of great music and fun.
